While survival studies hostile situations in which one may find himself and tends to be mostly individual, prepping studies group situations in which one’s environment, quality of life and resources availability change.
To guarantee his own and others’ survival, the prepper aims to predict crises and therefore acts before the change, creates or accumulates the resources in advance, develops skills that he may need and, most importantly, he plans and prepares life afterwards.
About the author
Enzo Maolucci is the founder and president of Federazione Italiana Survival Sportivo e Sperimentale and of International Survival Association. He is also president emeritus of International Survival Federation.
Alberto Salza, a writer and anthropologist, is a researcher at the Department of African Studies of Turin University.
